How did the Seeff Secunda EPIC for Orphans begin?
In 2024, Renier Louwrens and Maree Verhoef were blessed with a last-minute chance to ride the Absa Cape Epic. What started as their personal dream ride inspired over 250 people in Secunda, who followed their journey online and found encouragement in the life lessons they shared. From this, the idea for the EPIC for Orphans was born.
Who is involved in the campaign?
The initiative is led by Renier Louwrens and Maree Verhoef, together with Billy & Anne-Lize Fick from Seeff Secunda. Billy and Annelize have been part of the community for nearly two decades and share the same heart to serve and uplift others.
Why focus on orphans this year?
After seeing the challenges many children in our community face, the team was deeply moved to take action. This year, the campaign is dedicated to raising funds to improve facilities and provide a brighter, more secure future for orphaned and vulnerable children.
What is the vision behind the Seeff Secunda EPIC for Orphans?
The vision is simple yet powerful: to inspire and build our community while changing lives. By combining their love for cycling with the visibility of the Cape Epic, the team is creating a platform to raise awareness and bring lasting value to Secunda — starting with the orphans, and later expanding to other community needs.
