A dream that became a movement

How the Seeff Secunda EPIC for Orphans Began

In 2024, Renier Louwrens and Maree Verhoef were blessed with a last-minute opportunity to ride the Absa Cape Epic — a dream come true. What started as an adventure soon captured the hearts of over 250 people in Secunda, who followed their updates and found daily encouragement as they related the challenges of the race to life’s own ups and downs. From this, a vision was born: to use their love for cycling to inspire and uplift their community.

Together we can make the difference

Our Goal: Hope for Orphans, Strength for Secunda

This year, Renier and Maree — together with Billy & Anne-Lize Fick from Seeff — are turning their passion for cycling into a mission of hope. Through the Seeff EPIC for Orphans Awareness Campaign, funds will be raised to help upgrade facilities and provide care and support for orphaned children. With the support of Secunda’s vibrant cycling community, we believe we can bring real change to the lives of these children and build a stronger, united community.

How did the Seeff Secunda EPIC for Orphans begin?

In 2024, Renier Louwrens and Maree Verhoef were blessed with a last-minute chance to ride the Absa Cape Epic. From this, the idea for the EPIC for Orphans was born.

Who is involved in the campaign?

The initiative is led by Renier Louwrens and Maree Verhoef, together with Billy & Anne-Lize Fick from Seeff Secunda. Billy and Annelize have been part of the community for nearly two decades and share the same heart to serve and uplift others.

Why focus on orphans this year?

After seeing the challenges many children in our community face, the team was deeply moved to take action. This year, the campaign is dedicated to raising funds to improve facilities and provide a brighter, more secure future for orphaned and vulnerable children.

What is the vision behind the Seeff Secunda EPIC for Orphans?

The vision is simple yet powerful: to inspire and build our community while changing lives. By combining their love for cycling with the visibility of the Cape Epic, the team is creating a platform to raise awareness and bring lasting value to Secunda — starting with the orphans, and later expanding to other community needs.
